Deena Abdelwahed teams up with Basile3 for new EP, “Free Radicals”
The 3-track EP is out via InFiné Music
Tunisian DJ/producer Deena Abdelwahed has released a new EP in collaboration with French producer Basile3.
Titled “Free Radicals”, the EP is comprised of 3 tracks, “Hyaluron”, “Niacinamide” and “Alpha GPC”. The closing track of the EP, “Hyaluron”, was shared in May this year as the first official single taken from the EP project.
The title of the EP alludes to a kind of molecular species called “free radicals” which are a vital contributing factor in the ageing process of the human body. This EP is as much a symbolic embrace of the aging process, as it is a shout of defiance. Perhaps it is even a musical cure as the medicine-reference track titles seem to suggest.
InFiné labelmates Deena Abdelwahed and Basile3 harness their shared experience and knowledge to fuse distinct but complementary production styles, combining cold, metallic sound design with warm percussive grooves. Across “Alpha GPC”’s dark, fidgety rhythms, “Niacinamide”’s off- kilter bass impact and “Hyaluron”’s cinematic, grimey melodic spirals, they find common ground in a mutual love for bass-heavy, rhythmically complex and border crossing club music.
