Pioneer DJ launches digital-analogue hybrid turntable PLX-CRSS12

Pioneer DJ has announced a digital-analog hybrid turntable, the PLX-CRSS12.

It is the first turntable offering DVS (Digital Vinyl System) control of digital music through DJ software, together with the playback of vinyl records.

It is an evolution of Pioneer’s 2014 PLX-1000 turntable, and comes with an analogue mode and a digital vinyl mode, an alternate tonearm free system — where a puck-like Magvel Clamp can be snapped onto the spindle on the slipmatt and used to tighten or loosen it’s rotation.

The latter feature allows turntablists to scratch precious vinyl records enthusiastically, without worrying about damaging the pressing.

In DVS mode, the Magvel Clamp allows users to control the digital file while experiencing the feel of a vinyl record.

At the front of the model, there is a three way break switch that allows you to chose between instant stop, short stop or medium stop when pressing the stop/start button.

It also comes with some performance buttons like a Hot Cue and Sampler. Connecting the turntable to a computer with downloaded DJ software, and to a mixer that supports the DVS function of the DJ software allows users to begin playing in digital vinyl mode and use the performance pads.

In analogue mode, the PLX-CRSS12 uses a direct drive turntable with gold plated RA terminals. It promises improved sound quality in comparison to its predecessor.

It is currently priced at £1,199 and is available for pre-order. Find out more information here.
